Description: This partially felted white kilim served as an Ottoman conscript soldier's blanket. Made of four panels in undyed, unbleached wool and expertly stitched together, one can clearly see an identifying mark which may be read as an M, but is more likely a personal mark and not a letter. This allowed a soldier to quickly identify his blanket among many others.
