This beautiful, floral kilim likely originates in Bosnia or Montenegro. The whole is contained within a red band, simple on the short ends and a complicated toothed edge on the long sides. A thick black band follows, supporting 18 bouquets of flowers with foliage. The central red field has four large pink and blue flowers in the corners while a central flower, in burgundy, lilac, white, and orange with four leaves, is surrounded by a wreath containing eight highly detailed, colorful flowers of four different types and color combinations. All foliage is in two shades of green, adding a lot of detail to the piece. This type of kilim was usually presented at weddings and then used only for special occasions.
