This kilim originates from the mountains of northern Albania, probably from the Kukes region. Made in four panels, the kilim features the prominent use of natural black and red dyes. The primary, thick black border has two red bands on the outer edge on the shorter ends. Twelve stylized double-headed eagles are found in this border, with flower motifs separating the eagles on the long sides. The central field has four double-headed eagles and six flowers in mint green. The centers of the flowers are pink and green and there are three of each, alternating. The fringe on the short ends is an attractive red.
