This is a splendid example of a Prizren regional piled carpet made from two panels. It is, nevertheless, very distinctive in its own right. This piece is clearly a prayer rug and shows little sign of wear. Using all dyes available, this carpet demands attention. A mihrab or prayer niche form, in hot pink, is found at the center and bordered by rich green corners at its top. Throughout both the green and pink areas are flowers in many colors. This area is bordered with a blank band which contains multi-colored flowers at its short ends, with the long ends being bands of multi-colored blocks. Surrounding this is an orange border with 22 multicolored frogs. The next border is green and contains what may be intrepreted as more, but smaller, frog-like forms. Another orange band encompasses this area with 26 large flowers. The spaces on the shorter borders are filled with paired plant forms. This border is contained within a green band which encases a multi-colored strip in its center. The bottom third of the kilim has an attached fringe in orange with multi-colored tassels spread throughout. The top of the carpet has a nice white fringe.
