2- Flokja Plain

Description:
This flokija carpet was used as a blanket, sleeping or sitting mat, and possibly as a carpet. It is felted on the bottom and in mint condition. It is dyed red, likely using natural dye.

Estimated Age: Last half of 20th century

56- Flokja Plain

Description:This flokja carpet is a vibrant orange yarn with heavy pile used for sitting and sleeping, as well as a bed cover. A few minor holes on the reverse that are not visible and do not need to be repaired. It was made in two panels and the reverse is noteworthy as it clearly shows the construction of the piece. This was for domestic use, not for sale outside the family. This is clear on the reverse which utilized whatever extra yarn was present to construct the parts not visible when in use.

63- Flokja Plain

Description:This is a rich, cornflower blue flokija carpet from the mountains near Korce. The piece is striking in its shade of blue and for its simplicity. Made in four pieces, it has been felted on the reverse for use as a blanket. It was primarily used for sitting and for use as a sleeping mat.

67- Flokja Plain

Description: This flokija carpet is from Gjirokaster that was used as a sleeping and/or sitting mat. It is felted on the bottom and is dyed a rich shade of emerald green.

69- Flokja Plain

Description: A cornflower blue flokje carpet, this was used as a sitting and sleeping mat and could have served as a blanket. It is hand dyed as evidenced by abrash clearly visible on the reverse.

70- Flokja Plain

Description: A bright orange flokje carpet used as a sleeping and sitting mat, as well as a blanket was made in the Gjirokaster region. It is felted on the bottom.

73- Flokja Plain

Description: This vibrant, magenta flokja carpet was made in the Gjirokaster region and served as a sleeping and sitting mat, as well as a blanket. It is fully felted on the reverse.

Description: An undyed, cream wool flokja carpet from the Gjirokaster region that served as a sleeping and sitting mat, as well as a blanket. It is partially felted on the reverse.

82- Flokja Plain

Description: A straw colored flokija carpet used as a sleeping and sitting mat, as well as a blanket, was made in the Gjirokaster region. It is felted on the bottom and made on a horizontal loom in three panels, carefully stictched together.

49- Blanket

Description: This partially felted white kilim served as an Ottoman conscript soldier's blanket. Made of four panels in undyed, unbleached wool and expertly stitched together, one can clearly see an identifying mark which may be read as an M, but is more likely a personal mark and not a letter. This allowed a soldier to quickly identify his blanket among many others.

58- Blanket

Description: This raw wool blanket was made with 5 panels on s small horizontal loom from south Albania. It was probably used by a soldier or shepherd and was easy to roll for transport. Condition is excellent.

Estimated Age: Late 19th century to Early 20th century

96- Flokja Plain

Description: This cranberry-colored carpet with indigo ends is a flokja carpet that would have served as a seating and sleeping mat, as well as possibly a bed cover. The pile has been twisted to form loops giving this piece an unusual appearance as most flokja have straight, high pile.

Description: A simple, red flokja carpet that is partially felted on the reverse. This would have served as a seating mat, sleeping mat, and/or as a blanket.
